Let's Get Weird This Year!!
Art Goals for 2026
Cheers to 2026!! sending so much love and happiness and well wishes and blah blah for the new year. Seriously, I do hope that it is a great year for you, and if bad things happen, I hope you can find ways to thrive in the midst of trying to survive.

My art goals for the year:
Make Big Art
Get Weird
Don’t Tell Myself No
Finish a Big Series
Plein Air on Big Canvases
I have some other things I’d love to get done this year, but I’m too lazy to type them all out. Mostly, I want to make big pieces, allow my weird ideas to come to fruition, and make a stupid amount of art. I have already started planning out a series of weird little star smiley face drawings that are taking over my whole day. I’ll share more about it later, but just know my brain cogs are craaAAaAanking.

I go back to teaching at the end of January to start my second and final semester with the UTSA Artist in Residence Program. We’re planning on doing two murals, one with just the eighth graders who are about to leave for high school and one big collaborative 3D mural across three middle school classes. I’m excited for what’s to come with this, but I am also enjoying the hell out of my break away from the kids.

January is pretty chill for me as I slowly ease back into working after the holidays, spend time in the studio, and take some time to plein air. February is already pretty booked - three to four art shows, teaching three days a week, and running a 10k at the end of the month.

Keeping this one short so I can continue reveling in my chill start to 2026. Will share more about these big weird and funky ideas soon.
